On inua, personified souls:
In Inuit tradition all natural phenomena possess an “inua,” a concept of the “soul”. Abstract objects such as sleep, laughter, play, or work are all living and personified entities too. According to this perception everyone is alive, regardless “classic” western definition of life or death, e.g.
A cotton flower, a woven cloth, a thread
A tree, a piece of wood, a sheet of paper
A coal chemical, a powder, a sign
