gave me rhubarbs

to make lemonade from

i complimented him 

on his sweet peas

he told me my cucumbers would fail

my strawberries were done

and that i should plant potatoes

i plant after what leaves i like to touch, i said

then he suggested bush beans and hokkaido

—they will have edible flowers and soft leaves
